We collect information you provide directly to us and information generated automatically when you use the Service. The categories below describe what we collect and why.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve the Service, communicate with you about updates and support, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our Terms of Service. Where required by applicable law, we rely on your consent, our legitimate interests, or the performance of a contract as the legal basis for processing your personal data.

Image Recognition & AR Processing

The core function of Squintwerks is to recognise images through your device camera and return associated video content. When you point the camera at an image, a compressed representation of that frame is sent over an encrypted connection to our recognition servers. This data is used solely to identify the image and retrieve the linked video. It is not retained after the recognition query is complete, and it is never used to identify individuals or build profiles.

Sharing of Information

We may share your information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the Service (such as cloud hosting, analytics, and customer-support platforms), subject to confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Squintwerks or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Data Retention

We retain account and contact information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Device and usage data is retained in aggregated, anonymised form for analytical purposes. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to data portability.
